Advisor meeting

When it comes to advising for classes, I dread it. Partially because my advisor never shows up / partially because I'm always late for class sign-ups. Whatevs. I'm taking a T.S. Eliot class next semester - knowing that makes today a lot better.
Have you ever had any bad experiences with school advisors?
I took a math class once that wasn't even necessary for my degree (because an advisor told me to). I can't stand math.

    1. It is the worst, I'm sorry it happened to you too! This is the second time my advisor hasn't showed up; I'm definitely going to talk with someone new for all my future classes. Good luck with yours!

  2. I was a bio major in college and it was hard! I especially had a hard time with chemistry classes. I met with my advisor during the semester to discuss my weakness in the subject area and her suggestion was to "take on a different major, like music or something...". Music! She said it on a whim. I've never discussed any interest other than biology to her and that was her suggestion. I figured she didn't have my best interest at heart and clearly didn't have advising skills that suited my needs, so I switched advisors that very same day... The benefit of a small liberal college, I suppose. :-)

    1. I go to a small school too! I'm glad you were able to stick with biology, despite your advisor's wishes. :)
