What I wore

These posts hardly ever make an appearance,
but I'll do it more often if you'd like.
Simply put: I'm thrilled summer is almost here.
Even if the sun is only playing games right now.
Top/skirt: Forever 21. Belt: Thrifted. Watch: Philippines. Bracelet: Great-Grandma's jewelry. Shoes: TOMS.

PROM photos

Well chums, prom was on Saturday night.
It was marvelous to say the least.
My favorite photo of the entire night.
Those balloons were dying to get their picture taken.

To the right is Zach's sister and her date (It was junior/senior prom).

My lovely friend Nina sported a style from a few decades back and looked fabulous.
Dress detail #1
I designed my dress while I was living in the Philippines, a man named Raffy made it for me.
However, a lot of the style in the Philippines is still in the 80's...
...and that's certainly not a bad thing. I love it.
BUT, it meant that I had to work on the dress after I returned to the states.
Luckily, my mother knows an excellent seamstress, and she was able to help me out.
Detail #2
The sewing mentioned in a previous post relates to those coconut beads.
Oh, those dreaded beads.
I sewed on more beads on the back...
And although it may not seem like a lot,
keep in mind that my sewing skills are that of a two-year-old.
I pricked my fingers more than once or twice...and even my lip.
I...I don't know how that happened.

Can you guess..?

Neon orange nail polish: Oh glory.
(Either the biggest mistake of my life, or one of the best decisions ever).
Plenty of navy blue fabric. Floor length, to be precise.
Lots of needle and thread work.
..enough to make me never want to sew again.
Have you guessed what's going on today yet?
No? Alright. Here's more:
Shoes: check. Makeup: check. Hair: check.
Picking up boutonnière in an hour...
..okay, that was just a dead giveaway.
If you haven't already caught on,
prom is tonight.

...And boy am I stoked.
What are your plans today?

French? Spanish? Eh, what's the difference?

Friend: (Looking through portfolio) Katie, how long did you take French?
K: Just two years, it really helped when I was in France and Haiti though.
Friend: Do you speak it fluently?
K: Si.
...uh...I mean oui. I use to.
That's embarrassing.

Seattle Flash Mob 2011

Greetings! This past Sunday, I was a part of a group
that consisted of about 1200-1300 flash mobbers!
To get an idea of what a flash mob is, I've posted this video below.
We mobbed the entire day, from one end of Seattle to the other.
We practiced at our final meet in the morning,
and then mobbed specifically at three locations.
This film shows our second location.
I signed up thinking it was all about Glee (the show),
but none of us knew about the Lady Gaga appearance.
Thanks a bundle to my cousin, Sam, who introduced me to flash mobbing!

Excuse my extreme pastiness. This is seattle.
We don't see the sun often enough.

Play Ball!

The gull above is such a dancer. Just look at that form!
I took an interest in the seagulls and people-watching...but the game was interesting too.
Opening night at the Mariner's baseball game! My first game EVER.
My boyfriend's brother-in-law is a man with connections and was able to score tickets for opening night, he was gracious enough to let me tag along with them. Although our team lost by far, I still had a grand time. What's your favorite sport? Favorite team?

Why God is Good.

Image Via

I know this blog really doesn't have one specific 'theme' per say, to it. But lately I've been posting a lot about God. It's all because when something impacts me deeply, I can't help but share!
So TODAY, here's why God is great:
1) I couldn't stop laughing at church this morning.
2) Joy is so contagious.
3) As I went to pay for gas this afternoon, I couldn't stop smiling. The employees/guests inside were extra smily too.
4) On my way home, I prayed about the money for the Haiti trip this summer, once I walked inside, my parents told me it's all taken care of! Praise GOD!

Today, I hope you laugh. Laughter is such a delight, I can't imagine life without it.
Who did you laugh with today? What did you laugh at?

Heaven

"So I'm Anxious to praise the Ancient of Days
My brain's still amazed at how I can see that pain is a phase
Soon to be eclipsed at the Son's return
When we get what He gives and not what we've earned"
How exciting is THAT!? I can't wait for Heaven.
My pastor shared this song last week, it's golden.
P.S. It's rap ... fair warning.
