Straight Up

Here's a post I absolutely love, by Kelsey:

Let's chat about homosexuality

There are 31,103 verses in the bible.
Love is mentioned in 697 verses.
Prayer is mentioned in 512 verses.
Money is mentioned in 100+ verses all containing a negative context, most saying one cannot enter the kingdom of heaven unless they become poor.
Faith is mentioned in 366 verses.
Peace is mentioned in 400 verses.
Homosexuality is mentioned in 6 verses.
So my question to all of you: why are those SIX verses focused on so much and yet you never hear people preaching about the absolute evil that the love of money holds.
For the love of money is a root ofall kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. -1 Timothy 6:10
Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. -Matthew 19:21
and yet i can tell you i see more christians in the church today walking around with an absolute love for money in their heart then i see of any other sin in this world.
honestly, this homosexuality debate is absolutely beyond my comprehension. i see christians today holding dearly to their money and american dream lives preaching about the sin of homosexuality when they still have sin in their own life, all over six verses.
Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? -Matthew 7:3

this is not to say homosexuality is not a sin, that is not the point of this. the point is to say brothers and sisters, we are so busy pointing out the sin in other peoples life that we forget the 697 verses on love and 400 verses on peace, and we forget that we have a log in our own life."

A day of thoughts

Instead of telling you about life lately, here's an update without many words.
A jumble of thoughts, photos, and favorites as of late. Feast yo' fine eyes on this, babies:
Yesterday
Today: What I wore.

Other arbitrary thoughts / comments:
  • I am the absolute worst when it comes to directions.
  • Today, my eyelashes are weak-sauce.
  • Riding bikes with my broseph the other day was time well spent.
  • Just because I want to take the American bumper sticker off my vehicle and replace it with a Philippines sticker doesn't mean I'm unAmerican.
  • I am in dire need of a new water bottle.
  • And last but not least, I need to cook something delicious. Soon.

Summer calls for dresses- even if the weather is crying.

YES, graduation was a success! I'll inform you more and post pictures later.
(Just know that I danced across the stage...barefoot.)
Due to many grad parties and graduations, it's been a bit hectic as of late.
...Also, I'm still finishing up a math class. Two schools down, one to go!
Boots & dress: Thrifted. Belt and jacket: LoveCulture. Tights: Kohls.
P.S. driving with boots is extremely difficult. Ankle movement? Doesn't exist.

Did you have anything going on this weekend? Do share!

1st Grade Letter

I apologize for the last glum post. I didn't realize how somber it sounded when I wrote it.
But guess what? I had one of the greatest 1st grade teachers ever.
You know what made him so great? He inspired me to become a teacher myself.
His passion to teach was evident, I realized that more and more as I observed other teachers.
Sooo... guess what I received in the mail today? THIS:
11 years ago, my teacher asked the class to write a letter to ourselves in the future.
It could be about ANYTHING. He told us he would send it back our senior year in high school -
(our parents give stamped envelopes with our addresses on it).
As a very proud seven year old, here's what I wrote:

"Dare Katie,
I am 7 years old. and I live on a Blooberry farm. I Live by my cusins and my grandma and grandpa. I like to pick Blooberries as speshly the big fat Juoosy ones are way better. and I Live by my granny and G.G. too. I go to grannys huse and make fuge there. and my sister gose to G.G.'s huse and she is Lorning how to sew and my cusins is Lorning haw to bo it too."

Does it surprise you I wanted to be an English major at one point?
I'm so glad education teaches us to improve our grammatical errors.
Have you ever had an exceptional teacher? Tell your story!
