Friday Highs and Lows

Highs
-Good music.
-Riding on the handlebars of Z's bike.
-Today my love reached up to pull a cherry blossom branch out of the tree for me. :)
-Cooking a full balanced meal for the first time in two weeks.
-Street ministry. God is so cool!
-One of my best friends came to visit from Portland. :)
-Summer is so close. The weather is already here.
-Days like these are when I play frisbee with the trees and smell the cherry blossoms relentlessly.
Lows
-My uncle is passing away. I have learned so much from this man.
-Mega stressful week with school and photo shoots. Another shoot tomorrow, and five to edit.

God is so good and I have to tell you about it.

I'm just dropping a quick note because I AM SO EXCITED. The kingdom of God is advancing; people are getting miraculous physical healing, and a friend on the street is experiencing the love of a father for the first time in his life; he can't stop smiling and can't stop talking about it! Jesus is alive! I'm learning that God will arrive if we take risks and abandon doubt.
It is so freeing.

I got bangs! Cut by yours truly.

When in doubt, get the romper out.
This day marks the beginning of the last stretch of spring semester. Four weeks!
To celebrate, I cut some hair off my head.
Summer, come soon. Sanity, come quicker.

Highs and Lows

This is how I felt earlier; kinda overwhelmed.
Highs
-Meeting a woman from Ethiopia on the bus; she just got married and moved to America three months ago; long story short, she’s coming over for dinner soon.
-You guys, this last week I have been able watch freedom and redemption happen for a friend on the Seattle streets; Jesus is so powerful. Soli Deo Gloria!
-Sunflowers from my Zachary.
-Indian food, thanks to my sister-in-law for her leftovers. Holy spice balls; four out of five stars!
-Jesus. Just Jesus. Being so amazed at miracles and knowing that it's absolutely impossible for these things to be 'just circumstance'.
Lows
-This: "If I told you that in a small building, in a major metropolitan city, within a state of these United States of America there were over 100 children born into this world and then summarily executed, would you expect there to be a national outcry?"
-Everyday this week has ended with staying up into the wee hours of the morning working on papers and projects.Tonight is no exception.
-Whole Living is no longer being published.
-Our university has a large formal event each year in Seattle ... that's happening tonight. Hubs and I made plans to go with another married couple our age (it was one of their birthday's), and we found out this last week that Zach forgot to ask for work off.

What are your highs and lows this week? Do you have any?

What we say, Zach and I

Zach, can I have half of that half of the avocado? You can have one and a half of the avocado. I mean, you can have three fourths of the avocado, if I can get half of your second half. I mean a fourth, can I please have a fourth of your avocado?

.... I have a feeling you’re asking for a quarter of my avocado.

Vision is not enough.

“Vision is not enough. It must be combined with venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps, we must step up the stairs.” — Vaclav Havel

Highs and Lows

Highs
-11:11 wishes.
-Picking the ignored daffodils behind the shrubs that no one cares about.
-Baking until midnight.
-Coming home from school to the scent of cinnamon rolls (even if they were a flop).
-Street ministry tonight!
-Finishing my younger brother's photos. Check 'em.
-A photoshoot with a senior from my small group ... in the pouring rain. She killed it.
-Inspiration for a final paper in Advanced Expository Writing. It is this: pain is what compels me to forgive. I will write on past bitterness, and how faith and art are connected between the two.
-Lunch with my mum and brother. You know it's an authentic Indian restaurant when the parking lot is packed, the seating is compromised of 95% Indians, and the line to get inside is going out the door. Quality, quality food.

Lows
-Does anyone know how to prepare and make a turkey? Like ... a really heavy, really big one? I've got a bird in my freezer and I need some guidance!

Today was a glasses and bandana day

Sometimes I look back at photos and wonder what the heck I was saying or thinking at the moment. Take photo numero-dos, to the right.  I have every characteristic of an old man: typical grandpa-esqu posture; feet parted ever so slightly, back arched at a seventy-degree angle. A passer-by may even suppose by my facial expression that I'm looking for misplaced teeth. Today, I embrace my inner old man. Loafers and all.

Riding in these shoes gave me blisters today. But it was nice sitting on the porch after Hubs and I came home. We drank smoothies and ate spoon-fulls of peanut butter.
Has your Wednesday been good to you?

Ronald Reagan didn't show up to court, say what?

Yesterday, April Fool's day, I was in court for a speeding ticket.
Lo and behold, Ronald Reagan's name was called during roll call.
The judge looked up at everyone; I want to be that person who's brave enough to pull a joke on the judge. But since I'm not, I'll stick to rubber-banding the sprayer on the sink.
What wasn't a joke, though, was the beautiful sky last night. Check it.
It's pretty cool that God gives a free art show when we're willing to notice.
